Location: Your Residence
Description: Before you take full possession of your new residence, it has unfortunately, during the long period it remained vacant, become home to a rather nasty collection of creatures. You'll need to rid it of the foul denizens that now stalk its halls before you can ever truly hope to call it home
Requirements: Buying a Residence from Faradmyn the estate merchant in Talinus.
Difficulty: Varies, hardest battles 11+ at MR 54, 3+ at MR 63

General Information[]

You must complete this quest before enjoying your Residence's benefits. You must also Save your Game in your Residence (or at least, after purchasing it) before the special adventures are accessible, so you can't just "test" them.

Tips[]

To get the maximum rewards, hunt down the unwanted guests yourself. Save your game first at the nearest town before approaching your new residence. You can then reload if needed.

Buying a Residence from Faradmyn the estate merchant in Talinus (125 AT and 2,000 gold).

Walkthrough[]

As you approach your new home, you can:

  • Hunt down the unwanted guests yourself. When you proceed with the search, you can find:
    • Tucked away in one of the many sprawling rooms of the castle you discover a hidden collection of items. You will often find gold and items that range in quality from inferior to unmatched, with more tending towards the upper scale. You may also find such a cache of treasures more than once. (Finding a collection of items counts as an encounter.)
    • Monsters that give +1 to +7 XP per battle. (All the encounters are 3+ at MR 63, highest is 11+ at MR 54) They also have a decent loot drop rate of sturdy or better equipment.
  • Hire someone to do the job. After a series of local inquiries, you find an aspiring adventurer named Caftor who tells you that for two thousand gold he will completely rid your residence of the undesirable creatures that prowl its passages. You can:
    • Agree to his price and hire Caftor for 2000 gold tokens.
    • Attempt to haggle with him. You must then pick a random number between 1 and 100, with help from Diplomacy (x0.25) + Mind + Luck (x0.5). You'll need to pick a number greater than or equal to 100 to succeed.
      • If you fail, you can simply decide against hiring him, and try the whole process again from the beginning.
      • If you succeed, he lowers the price down to 1000.

You can have as low as 12 encounters to as high as 27 encounters during your hunt, so it seems the number is fairly random. Between the hidden item collections and the monster's loot, you can nearly (or even completely) recoup your gold expenses from purchasing your Residence.

At last, after what seemed like an endless search, you are confident that all undesirable denizens have either been killed or driven from your residence. You declare it is now safe to inhabit. You then get the message: "Please Note: Saving your game in this location will activate any adventures that are available at your residence."
